About me
Drs. Jayna Gearhart Fitzsimmons (theatre) and Richard W. Swanson (classics, religion, and philosophy) teach at Augustana University and have developed an interdisciplinary approach to developing and collaboratively staging new work. Together, Jayna (director and dramaturg) and Richard (playwright) have produced This Is My Body, an exploration of generational stories that affirm bodily autonomy; Hearing, a story of family dynamics and political resistance in the Vietnam War era and today; Real As Air, based on letters written between Richard and his sister after her diagnosis with ALS; and When the World Was Wild and Waste, a kaleidoscope of origin stories.
