About me
Emily Cherry Oliver is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of North Dakota, as well as the Co-Director of the UND AI and Human Innovation Initiative. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre and an MFA in Directing, seamlessly integrating both disciplines in her teaching, directing, and scholarly work.
Her scholarly interests span directing, performance, and the intersection of AI with the arts. As a director, she has helmed a range of acclaimed productions both professionally and at UND. Notable professional credits include Spring Awakening, Mamma Mia, Shrek, Peter and the Starcatcher, and The Addams Family. At UND, her direction has brought to life Silent Sky, Into the Woods, Unnecessary Farce, Urinetown, and the original work My Generation, which she conceived and directed and was invited to Region 5 KCACTF.
Currently, Professor Oliver serves as Co-Chair for Region 5.
