About me
Cat Gleason teaches acting, directing, and stage movement, as well as theatre history and criticism. An award-winning teacher, she has received the Road Warrior and Innovative Teaching honors from The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival KCACTF5 as well as being honored by the University of Missouri, Columbia for Excellence in Education and as a University of Missouri Faculty Scholar. Gleason’s artistry has earned them certificates of merit in Directorial Concept and for Collaboration and Fostering Inclusivity and Community on Little Shop of Horrors from KCACTF5. Gleason received her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A portion of her dissertation was published in Makeshift Chicago Stages: A Century of Theatre and Performance. Gleason also holds an MFA in theatre direction from Southern Illinois University. Her theatrical practice includes directing, dramaturgy, intimacy and dance choreography, and the occasional scenic design. Gleason has specialized in physical theatre and devised works and was trained by Chicago institutions such as Plasticene and Goat Island.
