About me
Allison Holmes-Bendixen (she/her) is an artist, educator, musical theatre lover, opera enthusiast, and self-described vocal pedagogy nerd. She is a member of the faculty at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA; where she teaches a variety of music and theatre courses.
An active performer and educator who specializes in vocal coaching and music direction, Allison believes that every human has an amazing and unique voice, and strives to help performers make the most of their natural sound to bring authenticity to their storytelling. Recent music directing credits include Into the Woods, Chicago, Shrek the Musical, Elephant and Piggie - We're in a Play!, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Sweeney Todd. Favorite performing credits include A Little Night Music (Mrs. Nordstrom), Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), La Boheme (Musetta), Hansel & Gretel (Gretel), Candide (Cunegonde), and The Magic Flute (Queen of the Night). Allison holds a Ph.D. in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Iowa, a M.M. in Voice Performance from the University of Illinois, and a B.M. in Music Education from Simpson College.
